What are the risks of taking Statins?

Statins should not be taken by women who are pregnant – trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Statins should also be avoided if you have liver disease, or develop a liver disease.

You should contact your doctor immediately if you start to develop unexpected or unexplainable muscle weakness, pains or tenderness. This is a very rare risk when taking Statins caused by severe muscle inflammation.
