Statins are reported to have few side-effects, and if any do occur, they are usually minor. If you are on a prescription, you should always read the leaflet that came inside your box; this is the best way to see the side-effects for the brand of statins you are taking.

Typical side-effects are reported as:

  • Headache
  • Pins and needles
  • Adominal pain
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhoea
  • Feeling Sick
  • Memory Loss

You should also be aware of a very rare side-effect; “Severe muscle inflammation” – causing unexpected muscle weakness, pains or tenderness in the muscles. If you notice these side-effects, contact your doctor immediately.
